This is a park in the neighborhood of the Menard Street house, where dad grew up.  Barely visible, in the background of this picture, is a railroad embankment for a Chicago North Western freight corridor that connects the 40th Street Yard to the "New Line" to Butler (Milwaukee).  Is this where dad's love of trains started?

The Cragin neighborhood also features Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific (the Milwaukee Road) Galewood Yard, but dad's "railroad of choice" is Chicago North Western.  According to a US Census, his grandfather (Edward) worked as a clerk in "Railroad Supply."
